We recently immigrated to New Brunswick from U.K.

We have bought a 500+ acre farm that we are establishing as a wildlife/nature reserve, and plan to use to help educate children about the native flora and fauna in the area, so hopefully it will encourage attitudes that are more respectful of nature. Along side this we plan to produce organic hay, fruit and vegetables for our own use and to barter with others. Over the next 5 years we hope to get off grid and produce all of our electricity by water, wind and solar power; and plan to build 6 lodges, each out of recycled, natural and or environmentally friendly materials and in ecological sustainable designs.

This year we are kicking off with what will be our first annual Green Festival for New Brunswick, in aid of our Wildlife & Children’s Charity. The aim is for it to be a family fun day, where all the family can come and have fun but go home being able to save money by being green!

We feel this is particularly important in this area as there are currently several major threats for this province, namely: proposed uranium mining, at least 2 more nuclear power stations, and a second oil refinery.

We are having trade stands from conservation/environmental groups, green products, crafts, antiques and lots more. Also, information on green projects (both government and private) already going on in NB, ways to save money with recycling, energy saving, water saving etc. And also lots of fun events for the family, such as wagon rides around one of our trails, tethered hot air balloon rides, etc.

The date for the event is August 30, 31 and September 1, to be held on our farm near Clairville in Kent County, NB. We are trying to get as many local businesses as possible represented to spread awareness of what is available within the area, and to encourage people to buy locally. We can offer spaces of any size for one, two or all three days at very reasonable rates.
If you would like to rent a space to exhibit/sell your products and represent your organization we would be very happy to see you here – we would particularly like to have beekeeping represented.

Also, if any beekeepers would like somewhere to place some hives long-term, we would be very willing to offer some space here.

For further information, please contact Peter and Rachel (T.O.T.E.M. Children & Wildlife Charity) at 1-506-785-6685 or email pgajames@nb.sympatico.ca.
